LGV licence Test
I decided that it was time to increase my earning potential and get a job at my uncle’s furniture removal company. He has a small company in the city and he is looking to expand his business and purchase a new lorry, which of course would require a new driver. In order to drive a large goods vehicle, I will have to take a LGV licence test. Taking your LGV licence test is a little more complicated than doing your standard driving test.
In order to qualify to do the LGV licence test you have to first have your regular licence. I will be required to do an eye test and a health check, same as the driver’s licence. With my good health 20 / 20 vision this will not be a problem…
I will be required to do a written examination prior to the driving test. This consists of a series of multiple choice questions that I will have to answer. If I pass the written test then I will have to do a hazard test. This consists of looking at a screen and identifying hazards. It is very important to be alert and aware of identifying these type of hazards when operating a large vehicle, in order to prevent accidents before they happen.
When it comes to doing the practical test I will have to perform certain manoeuvre with the lorry such as stopping and turning. It is imperative that I perform these manoeuvre correctly, not just to pass the test but to ensure that I do not damage any of my uncle’s vehicles, especially when it comes to narrow lanes and parking the lorry. I have been practising with an instructor in order to get these correct and to ensure that I pass my test the first time. Once I have this under my belt I will be headed towards my new career involving heavy lifting and a life on the road!
